My First Two Weeks Back at HPIAM...

My first two weeks back at HPIAM this school year has been a bit of a handful, mostly because I'm a senior. I'm trying to make my schedule fun and at the same time i'm trying to make it benefit me in order to graduate. That is my main goal, to graduate. In order for that to happen though, I need to make up a couple of classes that I didn't pass in the past years. I honestly don't know what I was thinking because now that I've finally come to my senses, I realize that I could have been a straight A student all throughout high school. Unfortunately, I was very lazy and I didn't do my work. I was dumb for not doing my work, but I'm actually very smart and I'm also a quick learner. So it's not that I didn't understand, I simply didn't do my work. But that was before, this year I intend to redeem myself and get straight A's. Luckily for me I find many of my classes to be easy. My schedule starts with Intro to Data Science for 1st period with Mrs. Ross. Then I have service for 2nd period in the main office. I love my service block. I get to be with a very close friend of mine the whole time. It's fun because we just sit there and smile to people. We fill out visitors passes and hand them out to the visitors and we also get to fill out the tardy passes for the kids that come late, and we also run errands for the secretaries from time to time. I enjoy my service period because I've gotten to know the lovely ladies who work in the office. It's great being there and aside from everything I get to do there I also get to use that time to review or finish any homework that I didn't do at home. After 2nd I have block 3 with Mr. Almader (Mr.A) which is Advanced Band and by far one of my most favorite periods. Aside from the fact that there's a couple of people I'm not very fond of that are there, I really look forward to going to that class every other day. After that I have Government for 4th with Mr. Solis, That is also one of my favorite classes. I love listening to his lectures because aside from learning about government and history and a bunch of other cool stuff, he also teaches us about life which is something that not many teachers do as frequent as he does. I also love that class because I get to sit next to my best friend. It's fun being able to learn and joke around at the same time together. For 5th period I have AP Spanish with Mrs. Borrego. She is really nice and I learn a lot in her class. Everyone says that her class is hard but so far I'm having an okay time in there. For 6th period, which also happens to be the period that I am currently in, I have Mr. Haymore for New Media. I don't really mind this class because it's an elective but I am hoping I can change it for one of the English classes that I need. I get to go home for 7th period so that's fun, but because I need and English class I'm most likely going to get it for that period so I no longer will be able to go home early. Lastly for 8th period I have Mrs. Kopaitich for 12th grade English. So far that class is okay I have my best friend and a couple other friends in that class so its pretty fun sometimes. I also forgot to mention that I have Mr. Amaya for homeroom. I only have that class once a week on Tuesdays. I don't get to go to all my classes every day because of the schedule. We have what we like to call Odd and Even days. So they just alternate. On odd days I go to all of my odd numbered periods which are 1, 3, 5, and 7. On even days I go to all of my even numbered periods and those are 2, 4, 6, and 8. Another thing about my first two weeks back is Band practice. I love going to practice or rehearsal, but there's times where I leave and i'm just so tired. I get home and I completely knock out for a couple of hours. I'm very excited for today because not only is it Friday but it is also the first football game of the season. I can'y wait to get out there on the field and play my music. I'm a little sad because this is my last year therefore it will also be my last football season in marching band. It's okay though because I'm going to enjoy it and make the very best of it. I'm so tired and sleepy, I'm probably going to take a quick little nap before the game. Wish me luck!

Optician

Duties and Responsibilities: An optician is a technical practitioner who designs, fits and dispenses corrective lenses for the correction of a person's vision. Opticians determine the specifications of various ophthalmic appliances that will give the necessary correction to a person's eyesight. Some registered or licensed opticians also design and fit special appliances to correct cosmetic, traumatic or anatomical defects. These devices are called shells or artificial eyes. Other registered or licensed opticians manufacture lenses to their own specifications and design and manufacture spectacle frames and other devices.

Salary: $21,290 - $54,490

Education: High school diploma with on-the-job training or apprenticeship; or certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree. Other requirements consist of a State license and/or certification.

I don’t think that I would like to be an optician because I don’t necessarily find it to be of my interest. I do think that it is a pretty awesome career and although I do want to go into the medical field, I simply prefer not to go into that particular area. I wouldn’t want to be an optician because I would like to be a registered nurse.

Hi, my name is Liz! I am 16 and currently a senior at Hpiam. This is my 3rd year here at Hpiam. I would have never imagined myself to be here and to be the person i am now. When i first got to this school I had no idea what to do. I didn't know anyone here and the only thing that crossed my mind on a daily basis was how much time i had left before i was able to go home. I considered many activities like soccer and swimming, but i never thought i would end up being in the marching band. It never really caught my attention and now i just can't seem to think of anything else. Music has always been very important to me, but ever since i started the music program and since i joined band, music has become my passion. I cant seem to go one day without at least listening to music. Some of my favorite genres are pop, pop rock, R & B, and I'm a big fan of Oldies as well. My favorite artist so far is Sam Smith. I love the way he sings and i hope to be as talented as he is, one day. Not only am I really into music but i also love to read. I like fiction and poetry, but my personal favorite is comic books, I don't know much about comics but i am learning. My favorite characters are Deadpool, The Punisher, The Joker, and Wonder Woman. My favorite seasons would happen to be fall and autumn. I love gloomy whether, it makes me happy. My favorite food consists mostly of poultry. I really like chocolate milkshakes. When i grow up I'd like to be a nurse (RN). I really love music so if i do become a nurse i won't just leave music out of the way. My dream is to be a performer. It would be nice to be in a band and get famous and whatnot. I would like to travel the world and experience it myself and not just watch on TV. Overall I would just like to say that i on"t want to grow up to be an average person with a normal job. I want to be somebody and i will do whatever it takes to get there.
