"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often." - Peter Vidmar

This quote really inspires me to keep fighting in order to reach my goals. I'm not the best academic student, however I wouldn't consider myself being the worst either. I have made many mistakes (many of which I regret) throughout my high school years. I sometimes sit on my bed and reminisce about the things I've done and about all the things I should've done instead, but many times all I end up doing is putting myself down. Nowadays when I do think about the mistakes I've made I encourage myself to continue to amend them so that one day I could achieve my goals of going to a good university and becoming the person I've always dreamed of being. I want to live a good life and in order to do so I have to get a good education so that I could get a good, well-paying job in the career of my choice.  I don't want to continue to live the way I am living right now, when I'm older. Sure there's a roof over my head, food for me to eat, and clothes for me to wear, but why should I settle for this knowing that out there is something far much better out in the world. I think a lot about how it isn't fair that my parents won't let me go out and spend some time with my friends, but that's only what I care about in that moment. I never stop to think about how that might affect me in the long run which is why this quote has made realize that I need to focus more on my future and how I would like to enjoy my future rather than having a good time now and suffering later on.

Healthcare Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities: Healthcare administrators coordinate the activities of medical organizations ranging from doctors’ offices to hospital departments to health care corporations. They create goals and the strategies for achieving them, and communicate this information to all employees. The medical staff can concentrate on health care because administrators tend to business concerns such as budgeting, scheduling, information management, marketing and internal communication. Administrators also ensure their facilities comply with all regulations and may represent their areas of responsibility at board meetings or public hearings.

Salary: $55,470 for the bottom 10% to $155,130 for the top 90%

Education: A bachelor’s degree (four years) is the typical entry-level preparation needed for health care administration jobs. Some employers, however; will promote from within or hire other professionals with related experience (such as nurses) who are ideal for an administrative role. This is due to their direct health care knowledge. A graduate education (two to three years) is usually the starting point for high-level executive positions. This means attaining a MBA, or a different type of master’s degree, or even a doctorate in health administration. Sub-specialties are often available, especially in graduate programs. These include long-term care administration, health care services, or health information management.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?
A healthcare administrator sounds like a person who is very busy and also responsible so because of this I think that I would like to be one, but not for a very long period of time. Administrators get paid very well so I think I would make a really good living out of it and that is another reason as to why I would like to be one.

"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life." - Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K)

Coach K was and still is one of the greatest college basketball coaches as well as a very well respected man. This quote makes a lot of sense and under different circumstances i might feel different about what is being said, however; I disagree because there are many people in this world who are terrible people and yet have done incredible things in their lives. Coach K was the complete opposite of that because he was a great guy and on top of that he led his team to many unforgettable victories. The reason I disagree with his quote is because I have heard of wealthy people who are terrible people but who have accomplished to get where they are in life. Sure they might be hated by some people and maybe respected by others, but frankly I don't think that they care because if they did then they wouldn't be the type of people they are today. In all reality a good name is something that a person would want to achieve in life, but it is not the greatest achievement. In my opinion, there are far more important things in life that a good name. Many might remember you for the person you were or the things you did but when you really stop to think about it all that is ever going to matter is how you lived your life and if you enjoyed it or not. It's good to be a good person but it can also be good to be a little selfish at times.

"Choosing the right is always the right thing to do." - Alex Linares

According to this quote, choosing the right is always the right thing to do and I agree with it because there is no better way of doing things than doing them the right way. This quote also assures someone that choosing the right is never a wrong way to go about things. An example of a way in which choosing the right can not only help you but others as well is if there is someone who is close to you, but they are doing something bad like doing drugs or something. You might not want to do or say anything because you are close to them and you don't want them to get mad at you or to stop talking to you so you stay quiet instead. Choosing to stay quite is choosing the wrong because not only are you letting that person to continue to abuse drugs but whether you realize it or not, you are also letting that person's risks of getting hurt get higher. What I mean by this is that many people who abuse drugs and do not get help ASAP usually end up dying from an overdose. If it were me I wouldn't care if that person stooped talking to me because I spoke up. The reason I wouldn't care is because I know that in the end, whether that person likes it or not, they will thank me because they will once again be healthy. It is not always easy to do the right thing but in order to so you have to be strong and do it anyway because if not you could end up feeling guilty for not being able to help someone when you had the chance.

Choose The Right... Always!

"Education is the latch key to success in life" - Gordon B. Hinckley

I strongly agree with this quote because I believe that education is the key to success in life. Without education people would be ignorant and they wouldn't care about wanting a better life because all they would care about is surviving. On the other hand, when people educate themselves they increase their chances of being successful in life. This is true because when you compare a worker with someone who own their own business, you can clearly see the difference in how much they make by the hours that they work or by what they do at work. Many people work in factories because that is all they can do. They never got an education so that's the only type of job they can get. However, someone who has an education can look for a better paying job and ensure a good lifestyle because they have the education that other people do not. Being educated allows you to have more opportunities than the people who are not educated.

Dermatologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Dermatologists specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating skin diseases and conditions. Examples of common conditions that they treat include acne, dandruff, and skin cancer. Some dermatologists also perform procedures to improve the appearance of the skin, such as decreasing signs of aging or improving skin tone (these procedures include Botox and collagen injections). Dermatologists may also perform minor outpatient surgeries, such as removing legions, warts, moles, or cancerous cells from the skin (normally, a sample of the removed cells is sent off for biopsy). A huge part of a dermatologist's job is educating their patients on the treatment and prevention of skin conditions. For instance, using the correct sunscreen, facial cleansers, and shampoos can help treat and prevent many of the diseases that dermatologists encounter.

Salary: $100,000 - $500,000

Education: In order to become a dermatologist you need to get a Bachelor’s and a Medical degree. Also, three years in residency training is required. Additionally, dermatologists must successfully complete the UDMLE exam. Finally, they must pass the American Board of Dermatology’s Board Certification Test, and meet the licensing requirements for the state they wish to work in.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I think that I would like to be a dermatologist because based on my research I’ve noticed that they make really good money. It looks like it’s a fun career and the fact that you get to help people look better and feel good about themselves, makes it all the more interesting. I wouldn’t mind having to spend so much time in college or training because in the end it will all pay off.

"Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy." - David Bednar

I think that it is important to follow the rules in some cases because that will allow you to be safe while being able to do things the proper way. When I do things the right way I feel happy because I know that they are done the right way. One example is whenever I am cooking or trying to make some sort of craft. I'm a  bit of an artsy type of person as well as a perfectionist so I like to do things the right way. Because I'm a perfectionist, I like to follow instructions to ensure that whatever I am doing comes out how it is supposed to. Another example of following the rules and gaining satisfaction from doing so, is when I help my parents with chores around the house. It make me feel very happy because then they can come home and just relax and that makes me happy.

Musician & Singer

Duties & Responsibilities: Musicians and singers play instruments or sing for live audiences and in recording studios. Some may specialize in one musical style, such as country or hip-hop. Musicians and singers rehearse for performances. In addition, they practice playing or singing to improve their technique and style. They may also audition for positions in orchestras, choirs, or other groups.

Salary: The salary varies on what you specify in. For example, if you were an Orchestral Musician you would make $28,000 - $115,000 per year. On average, a Musician or Singer earns an a salary of $36,543 per year

Education: Musicians are not necessarily required to hold a specific degree, but most pursue some sort of training. The majority of musicians start honing their skills at a very early age. Singers often perform in school or church choruses or choirs, and instrumentalists usually play in orchestras or bands. Musical training from a university or college or through private instruction is usually required. However, members of orchestras and other professional classical musicians and singers usually require a university degree in music. Musical talent and ability, as demonstrated during an audition, are important hiring criteria. Most recent entrants have an undergraduate university degree.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I would most definitely like to be a musician/singer because ever since I can remember, I’ve always looked up to artists and I’ve always wanted to be like them. Music is a huge part of my life and if I could do that for a living I would just be completely happy.

"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player." - John Wooden

To me, this quote means that who you are or what position you play in a game or sport does not necessarily define who you are as a person. For example, you could be one of the least contributing members of a particular team, but that does not mean that perhaps at home or in your community you do not contribute more than enough. The fact that you may not have a well known position in the team or that maybe it is not a very well liked position does not mean that you are perhaps in a low position elsewhere like at work or something. However, you do have to keep in mind that being a good player means that peoples' attention is focused on you so it wouldn't really be wise to be a great player and be a bad person outside of the game. You have to be a good person because then you do not become a target for the media and then you can continue to play and be a good person and be happy. Finally, I do agree with what this quote means, therefore I would definitely think twice about being a better person rather than being a greater basketball payer.

"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have." - Boyd K. Packer

I would have to disagree with this quote because being obedient means that you have to follow the rules. Not that following rules is a bad thing but sometimes and quite frankly most times, I believe that not everyone will agree with the rules. If the rules are biased or one sided then its pretty obvious that not everyone will agree with them. I would follow the rules if I thought that they were equal. In other words, I would only be obedient if I wanted to. Anyhow the key to freedom is not necessarily obedience. I think that the key to freedom is actually simply doing whatever makes you feel free. This doesn't really mean to start breaking the laws or creating damage. It simply means to choose a better alternative that won't harm anyone.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one?  Why? Why not?

Personally, I would rather not be a dental assistant because although I do see myself doing it, I don’t think I would really have much fun. It does however make me very curious to see how they get to hand the dentist the tools they need and I would also like to just help around the office.
