Duties & Responsibilities: Musicians and singers play instruments or sing for live audiences and in recording studios. Some may specialize in one musical style, such as country or hip-hop. Musicians and singers rehearse for performances. In addition, they practice playing or singing to improve their technique and style. They may also audition for positions in orchestras, choirs, or other groups.

Salary: The salary varies on what you specify in. For example, if you were an Orchestral Musician you would make $28,000 - $115,000 per year. On average, a Musician or Singer earns an a salary of $36,543 per year

Education: Musicians are not necessarily required to hold a specific degree, but most pursue some sort of training. The majority of musicians start honing their skills at a very early age. Singers often perform in school or church choruses or choirs, and instrumentalists usually play in orchestras or bands. Musical training from a university or college or through private instruction is usually required. However, members of orchestras and other professional classical musicians and singers usually require a university degree in music. Musical talent and ability, as demonstrated during an audition, are important hiring criteria. Most recent entrants have an undergraduate university degree.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I would most definitely like to be a musician/singer because ever since I can remember, I’ve always looked up to artists and I’ve always wanted to be like them. Music is a huge part of my life and if I could do that for a living I would just be completely happy.
